Hp Easy Scan For Mac

Worst Experience I’ve ever had with a single software

I’ve owned by HP Officejet Pro 8620 for about two years, and it has been the perfect PRINTER for my small business. However, I had an important deadline requiring me to SCAN some sccompanying material, and after looking through the printer menus and also online, I downloaded this app thinking it would make the entire process easy. WRONG! After trying to configure this for a good portion of an hour, I am forced to quit because I have to go elsewhere if I want to ensure that this scan will be completed in time. I have been using computers for about 15 years, and this is the single worst experience I have EVER had with a single software. Not only am I missing my deadline because my scanner wont scan using this stupid app, but now I am going to have to drive out of my way and go find a third party place, to scan my documents (for a fee) because this app isn’t working right. My printer still works great, but I have physically written down a note and taped it to my printer to remind me that whenever this printer breaks, I will NEVER purchase an HP Product again, simply due to how horrific this experience was of trying to simply scan something using their built in scanner. Thanks HP!

HP Easy Scan Saved the Day

I downloaded HP Easy Scan to my new iMac Pro and once the download completed and the App opened, I went to devices on my computer and clicked on my office 'HP OfficeJet Pro 8600' Icon -- immediately my computer started downloading a new print driver file. Once completed, a document that I had previously placed on my printer started being scanned. The Easy Scan App reappeared and when the scan completed and displayed in the App, I clicked on 'Send' which opened a save window where I selected a Folder for storing all future scans. Delighted, I stacked several documents on my printers from feed and each document was scanned. When completed and I clicked on Save. I went to my computer' scan folder and there each document had been saved to a separate jpeg. Thanks HP for a great, AND FREE, scan App. It will save me a lot of work back when I used to scan to a USB drive, switch it to my computer, and search HP_Scan directory and hope my document appeared. This is a productivity time saver! Kudos !!

I should’ve known…and read other reviews here first.

I’ve had my HP “do everything” super printer for a couple of years now - going on 3 actually; but ever since I had to get a new lap top and switch from a MacBook Pro to a MacBook Air, well, the scanner is just totally FICKLE. It seems to be working just fine one day, then the next time I NEED to scan something, it pops up THIS message: 'HP Officejet Pro 8610 [4963D5] is currently unavailable. Please check if it is turned on and connected, or try again later.” BULL.
I searched online for an answer and thought of checking for an update….and found this one. Now, my scanner worked this morning but four and a half hours later, ZILCH. I thought maybe updating the software would fix things, but that didn’t happen. I’m preparing for an extremely important hearing and have all kinds of Exhibits to scan and make sets of and I am ABANDONED by HP. I’ll defininitely have to think dozens of times over “twice” before buying another HP Printer. What a disappointment, because I liked them before this!

Newer models of HP scanners and Mac OS X Mountain Lion typically work well together without any issues. All you need to do is install the Mac OS X driver software for your scanner, and it should work easily with any software that can access the scanner. Sometimes, however, there can be a software mismatch issue with a Mac OS X or HP driver update that can cause the scanner to stop working. Troubleshoot this and other potential causes to diagnose and resolve your problem.

Rebooting

The typical first step in resolving almost any computer problem is to power cycle the devices that are not working well with each other. In this case, reboot both the Mac and the scanner. In many cases, a simple power cycle can reset each side of the connection so that the software can reconnect and the scanner can once again work with the Mac.

Update Mac OS X

Check to see if there are any software updates for Mac OS X. Apple pushes these changes to your computer if you've enabled notifications; however, it is best to launch the Mac OS X Mountain Lion App Store and check if there is an operating system update available. If there is, install it since it may contain an update for HP devices.

Update HP Scanner Driver Software

If you have not checked the HP website for a driver update, visit HP's support website and download any new drivers for your scanner (link in Resources). Even if there are no updates, it is worth uninstalling and reinstalling the HP driver software again to ensure a clean starting point for your tests.

Delete and Reattach the Scanner

If your scanner is connected over your wireless network, sometimes there may be IP address conflicts or other connectivity issues. Delete the scanner by going into System Preferences and loading the 'Print & Scan' page, then clicking on the name of your scanner and pressing the '-' button. Add the scanner back to the list by clicking the '+' button and following the wizard's instructions.
